The Environment Agency has selected, and are in the process of relocating to, a new 6,500 sq m head office in the centre of Bristol. The building will achieve the highest sustainability credentials, with an 82% BREEAM score. Low energy design principles are proposed, such as ground source heat pumps, high thermal massing, natural ventilation, photovoltaics and solar thermal heating.
Watts was instructed to provide project management, cost and sustainability advice during the property appraisal and selection process. Following selection of the building Watts is now monitoring the basebuild works and project managing the CAT B fit-out. Cost consultancy, CDM-Coordinator and BREEAM assessor services are also being provided.
