Watts was appointed as to prepare a specification and project manage the external cleaning, repair, redecoration and restoration of the Office's external features/sculptures. The Foreign and Commonwealth Office was designed by Sir Gilbert Scott and completed in 1875. It is listed Grade I, and is one of the grandest buildings on the government estate.
Watts' brief was to act as lead consultant for the projec, which was divided into phases to minimise disturbancet. The services included contract administration; liaison with conservators and obtaining relevant consents from statutory authorities (including English Heritage and Royal Parks) and undertake the role of CDM coordinator.
This has been one of the FCO's best projects in terms of it's execution and end result.
