West London Police Station West London Police Station
In response to a central Government policy mandate to reduce street crime, Watts was commissioned to assist the fast-track refurbishment of a West London Police Station. The refurbishment took place over three phases and had to be completed on schedule or it could have had high-profile implications for the Metropolitan Police. Key to the success of the project was the partnering approach adopted by all concerned - from Watts, to the client, to the various specialist consultants and contractors involved. Watts was involved in the design, specification and project management of this project. The first phase, from inception to launch took only two months. The second expanded the ability of the police to operate, and the final phase comprised non-urgent ancillary works following completion of the project. Watts used the JCT 98 contract, with contractors design supplement, to fulfill the brief in an exceptionally short timespan.
