The works under this contract included the reconstruction of footpaths to include granite kerbs and natural stone paving, new street lighting, public art and street furniture. The contact covered two individual towns. As the works were executed within busy pedestrian and traffic thoroughfares, operations had to be meticulously planned and sequenced to minimise restrictions to traffic and business activity. The Design and Build Form of Contract was used for the detailed design and contractor procurement. Watts was appointed to provide CDM Coordinator services. This included full participation in the two-stage evaluation and selection of a design/build team to complete the works, in addition to the normal coordination of the health and safety aspects of the project from inception to completion.
