The project comprises the demolition of the Antisoma building and the construction of a new education facility of circa 5 574 sq m. The proposed building will provide a mixture of teaching, learning and administrative space arranged on ground and five upper storeys - although the exact spatial requirements are yet to be determined. The new building is to be sustainable - with an 'Excellent' BREEAM rating - as well as providing a landmark facility for St. George's University of London's medical school. Watts conducted a feasibility study to establish 'in principle' what the local planning authority (LPA) would be likely to permit in terms of redevelopment on the site of the Antisoma Building. A notional client brief to provide circa 5 600 sq m of educational building has formed the basis of the proposals.
