Watts was appointed to monitor the development and construction of a mixed commercial use building. The property comprises an older building at street side and new compartments at the rear. The façade was put under protected status during the construction works, however the works carried out comply with the valid building permit. At the ground floor level, the current sheet metal façade was removed and the old cast-iron columns redeveloped. The columns were exposed and the new glazed fenestration set back in-between the individual columns. The subterranean garage is located at the rear, providing 12 parking units. Watts was instructed to carry out a construction monitoring on a monthly basis while the shell construction was erected and the old building redeveloped. Technical questions were addressed to Watts, who provided solutions, recommended alternatives and supervised the works. Watts carried out and approved the handovers of the property, the office units and the retail unit from the developer.
