Watts attends Movers&Shakers breakfast - Dorchester

30/04/2014

Directors' Cullum Alexander and Mark Wootton from Watts' London office were at the "Movers&Shakers “Commercial Property Breakfast Joint with BPF" this morning at the Dorcester, London. It was a good networking event with a lot of interesting discussion about the property market – the key factors that arised were:

  • Private Rented Sector is a key component required to unlock the housing crisis
  • Planning regulation needs to be unlocked to remove issues around Nibism and other risks to development if we are to make the most of the slow recovery
  • Regions must not be left behind – investment in regions will drive growth in those areas that will be of social as well as economic benefit
  • The capital lending is there for the right opporunity, but there needs to be a stable regulatory framework to make sure that the fragile economy does not get knocked off course
  • Rising sterling is potentially a risk to overseas investment in London
  • Investment in infrastructure is essential as a catalyst for change
  • Good prospect for rental growth in London office sector for the next 3 years
