Trevor Rushton joined Watts in 1983 as a chartered building surveyor. He is the firm’s technical director and until April 2009 was responsible for the building pathology group within the practice. Trevor has specialised in the inspection and appraisal of many forms of buildings, including high-rise towers, historic buildings, offices, industrial units and shopping centres. He is very experienced in the production of pre-acquisition and vendor’s survey reports. Aside from his interests in building and materials failures, he also enjoys working on dilapidations and has provided expert evidence thereon. In 2005,
he was appointed to the President’s panel of independent experts for dilapidation disputes.

Trevor is a prolific writer and speaker on technical topics and is editor-in-chief of Watts’ bi-monthly Technical Bulletin. He completed ‘A handbook of deleterious and hazardous materials’, published by RICS Books in 2006 together with a companion volume on defects in commercial and industrial buildings, published in March 2009. He is a member of the editorial panel of the Building Surveying Journal as well as the RICS on-line publication ISURV. Trevor has presented technical seminars and conferences for the RICS, Henry Stewart conference studies, CPD foundation, Contact Property Training, Southbank University and others. He is an external examiner at Kingston University.
