Watts surveyor nominated for women in property power list

A building surveyor with property and construction consultants Watts Group PLC has been named in a national list celebrating the most influential women in the industry.

Laura Hammond, of Watts’ Edinburgh office, appeared as a senior nominee in Property Week’s Women’s Power List. The list, which was published in the 27 April issue of the magazine, champions women working in all areas of property, including developers, bankers and agents. They were nominated by Property Week readers, with almost 1,000 votes cast.

Laura, who has worked at Watts since 2006, is vice chairman of RICS matrics Scotland and is due to take over as chairman in June. She volunteers regularly for the organisation, most recently co-chairing the RICS matrics Scotland Conference in Glasgow on 26 April.

She said: “I am delighted to have been included in the senior nominees for 2012, especially when you consider women such as Mary Portas and Zaha Hadid were also nominated.  Looking at the Women’s Power List gives a real insight into the diversity of the positions held by women in property, which continues to grow in a historically male dominated industry.”

Watts Edinburgh provides a comprehensive range of traditional commercial building surveying and project-related consultancy services to major public and private sector clients throughout Scotland.
