Project/ Senior Quantity Surveyor - London Hertfordshire/ Bedfordshire

About the Role:
Reporting to the Local Director you will work as a key element of the team focused on the delivery of Quantity Surveying duties on live projects in London, Watford and the South East.  Additionally, you will support the Local team in delivering Cost Estimates for the business.  Working in a small team this job offers a varied role which may include site based and office-based duties.

Responsibilities include:
Pre-construction services to include but not limited to:
• Prepare initial feasibility estimate for appraisal purposes, including visiting site
• Prepare further NRM Cost Plans as necessary during the design process
• Investigate and collate pre-tender market feedback
• Advise as to appropriate tendering, contractual and insurance arrangements
• Assist in the selection and the vetting of contractors and specialist sub-contractors and suppliers to be invited to submit tenders
• Prepare tender documents and issue tender enquiries, and deal with tender queries
• Support contractual requirements for the client liaising with legal team
• Receive and analyse tenders and report upon tenders received.
• Prepare contract documents for execution and arrange their execution
Construction Period Services to include but not limited to:
• Liaise with Project Managers on future variations, requests and instructions
• Report to the client monthly as to the actual and projected final cost of the Development
• Issue monthly interim valuations and contractor’s VAT invoice under the Building Contract (Certificate by CA)
• Produce cost estimates for proposed variations
• Prepare and negotiate the settlement of the final account under the Building Contract
• Support the agreement of loss and expense claims with contractor
General Services:
• Attend all periodic and ad hoc pre-contract meetings, policy meetings, design team meetings, project meetings and similar meetings as required, taking notes and minutes when directed
• Provide any assistance and information required by the Client
• Assist senior members of the team on an ad-hoc basis
Other duties:
• Undertake Reinstatement Cost Assessments
• Undertake Cost Monitoring role, including site visits, report writing and attending meetings as required by clients

Desired Skills and Experience
Key skills
• Must possess excellent interpersonal communication skills (both verbal and written)
• Must possess excellent presentation and negotiation skills
• Must possess excellent organisation and time management skills
• Must have proficient IT skills, particularly MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and cost estimating preferably CostX
• Must be able to work both independently and within a team structure
• Must be willing to learn, to be proactive and can problem solve and provide innovative solutions
• A collaborative approach to work, willing to share knowledge, experience, ideas and expertise for the betterment of group and self.
Qualifications and experience
• Must possess the relevant degree of practical experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the commercial property market
• Must be a MRICS qualified Quantity Surveyor or be able to demonstrate that they are working towards obtaining MRICS chartered status, and possess good technical and market knowledge
• Demonstrate good working knowledge of the JCT suite of contracts
• Demonstrate good knowledge of the NRM regarding Cost Planning
