Kings College Hospital Helipad takes shape

Building a new critical care unit and helipad at Kings College Hospital in south east London is one of our most complex current project management commissions. One of our latest challenges involved the closure of Denmark Hill whilst a 50-tonne mobile tower crane was installed, one of only two or three in the UK. More unusually, the team has devised a way to keep the emergency helicopters flying around the air despite the presence of two towers cranes very near the flight path.
