Watts Pocket Handbook

The Watts Pocket Handbook, now in its 27th year, is the Group’s flagship publication. Each year, a team of internal contributors and external specialists provides information and guidance on a vast selection of subjects ranging from cost management to construction defects. Content is reviewed on an annual basis to ensure it remains topical, accurate and relevant, keeping readers abreast of the latest technical developments in the industry as well as providing a useful aide memoire to a comprehensive range of topics.

Recognised as a definitive guide to all aspects of property and construction, the RICS-published handbook in its easy-to-read format, continues to hold enduring appeal for a large group of annual subscribers. These include industry professionals, clients, investors, developers and students.

The original inspiration for the Watts Pocket Handbook came from a worn copy of the 1864 edition of the Hurst's 'Handbook for Surveyors', which was found while clearing out an office that had been used by a firm of surveyors since 1840. The first edition was published in 1983 and contained 62 pages.  Since then, it has continued to grow in size and content, with 472 pages making up the latest edition published in February 2011.
