Spotlight on Leeds

Since moving from Bristol at the beginning of 2008, John Blomeley Director of Watts’ Leeds office has overseen an expanding and diverse workload.

One of the offices key clients is West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue for which a series of projects have been undertaken with Watts taking on Project or Contract Management. Recent works include the reorganisation of the incoming and outgoing services at the organisation’s headquarters freeing up land for sale. Surveys have been undertaken for every fire station and the refurbishment of a transport stores building is underway.

The Leeds team also works for a range of private sector clients including developers, investors and hotel operators from Travelodge to Handpicked Hotels and is currently undertaking development monitoring for a 70,000 sq ft office development.

Leeds is also the location of the only remaining Bank of England outpost outside London. Last year, the Watts team was undertaking a survey of the building – a 1960s construction with Cornish granite cladding – when it was listed mid-appointment. Needless to say the client’s plans changed and we’re now undertaking a series of repairs.
